One year later by thefirstfleet One year later by thefirstfleet
One year... for the Universe, it is nothing. Even for a man, it is almost nothing. Life goes by, people die and are born, some go insane, some see the light. But exactly one year go, on this day, I started my new gallery. I paid for a mistake I have committed, I survived the prosecution that was often unjust.
But I have faith. I had faith in myself, I had faith in you, my friends, and I have faith in Him. And all of this helped me through. As did my Hungarian stubbornness, my love for Star Trek and the need to hone my skills.
The new beginning was humble. One year ago, I was a university student burdened with the upcoming finals. Now I am a computer specialist, assisting the third biggest bank in the whole wide world. And I'm still the Trekkie, too old for his age, sometimes too bitter and forever unyielding.
So, my friends, here on DeviantArt and outside, I thank you for all the help, encoiragement and love you've given me. I'm always trying to be worthy for it.

And for some other people, who forged me anew in the fires of their arrogance, I would like to quote from the beautiful film Papillon: "Hey, you bastards, I'm still here!"

All the models were made by me. All of them. Throughout one single year. With love and lunacy and stubbornness and hope. For me. For you. For those who never stop believing in the underdog...

Fantastic model work! I love your version of NCC-1701 (TOS) and wish to use it in a small personal project - is there a way to change the name "Enterprise" (on the saucer) to a different name?

The wording is identified in 3dsMax as "toplet", but this doesn't appear to be a JPG or similar editable file. Any suggestions? I'm new to 3dsMax, so forgive me if there's a way to edit this in the program itself. Thanks.

Hi there!

The lettering is a 3D object, on all surfaces. They are hard-modelled objects, not texture files.

Thanks for the speedy response. Does this mean the words cannot be edited or replaced?

They can be replaced, by Booleaning a new set of labels.

I love pretty much every model you've got here. But if I'm going to be completely honest, the Galaxy-Class feels a bit... bloated, for lack of a better term. I'm sorry but the hull just seems fat in certain areas, like most of the stardrive section, and the saucer a bit as well...

Nonetheless, the detail and work you have put into these models is outstanding, and I cannot wait to see what else you can come up with!

This is an older model of the Galaxy class. I updated it many a times since then. Check her out on :iconmetlesitsfleetyards:

Yea, I sent Raul Mamoru an email about modeling one, because I want to redo the VFX from TNG's 6th Season episode "Timescape..." I've yet to find a decent D'Deridex warbird...

There is one on trekmeshes.ch, a hybrid of some three models if I remember correctly. I used that back when I still used other people's models.

The compliment's totally deserved!

I might be asking a lot here, but is there any chance you could do a list of the different ships/what inspired them?

Aside from the Enterprises, I recognise a few other of the iconic ships as well - the Reliant, for instance.
The Palo Alto, for instance, reminded me of the Pasteur, Crusher's future ship, but more of a TOS design...
I'd love to see where all these ideas came from, if you have the time!

The Palo Alto is actually a Daedalus class, the very original Jeffries concept that was modified and refined to become the Enterprise as we know it.

Oh cool, I didn't know that. Now you mention it, doesn't Sisko have a model in his office somewhere?

Cool. I been looking for a good Enterprise D. I see yours on Trek Mesh. They give it 4 stars, nice. I havent been doing much 3d lately, too many new PC games out and coming out soon. Plus been learning to use Illustrator. Learning Illustrator is as tough as learning 3ds Max, Lol.

All it takes is a lot of patience, faith in yourself and learning the basics on a good totorial. And I wish I had the shills of, e. g., Robert Wilde!
