It was merciful actually on the terrorists that Jean-Luc's ship was who they targeted here. Had this been the USS Galaxy with Capt. Sesshomaru Touken in my imagining of things...God help whoever tried to steal trilithium-resin during this and Sesshomaru was aboard to stop them. Among the NICER things I can imagine Sess would have done to them: cramming them into an airlock with open, bleeding wounds, sans suits, and then remotely opening the outer hatch so they'd then be blown out to die a horrid death via bodily explosion.

Not even a First Fleeter would do such thing!

Hmm...think my zest of thinking of just what he's capable of got the best of me then. :XD: Since he caught them in the act of just trying to steal the resin and their intentions are just hearsay without hard proof aboard the ship, another possibility is him getting some special binding rope out of his quarters to tie them up with while he tries to contact the planet to request an emergency beam out. If that fails, Sess would then pull the emergency power pack out of something big but non-critical or do some hotwiring to get a transporter and emitter up and running to get himself and his new prisoners off the planet to where there's likely a hostage situation his crew is in that he'd then single-handedly bail them out of.

BTW, why would Sess possibly get trapped aboard the first place? Being the last person to leave the ship, I think he was in the process of retrieving his two special mystic swords from his quarters so he could get in some practice time with them planetside during the brief shore leave to keep his skills with them sharp.

I've have never been able to see this episode all the way through. I always catch it near the end of the show. I don't even know what that thing does outside that it's deadly to be caught in... guess I can Google it.

If you haven't googled it yet, the Enterprise is undergoing a Baryon Decontamination sweep, it's lethal to organic matter which is why the entire crew had to temporarily leave the ship. (Except for Data but I guess it harms his biochemical lubricants) Captain Picard was grabbing his horse saddle when he stumbled upon the terrorist activities in which they were plotting to steal trilithium resin from the Enterprise Warp core, rilithium resin is a highly dangerous and unstable waste produced by the Warp propulsion system. In My reboot It's a freshly graduated Wesley Crusher, Read here:[link]

Ah... cool. Had to look up Baryon particle on Wikipedia, couldn't find anything that would clearly explain why the ship needed to be decontaminated from it other that it stuff one finds in space. The science is a little deeper than I can grasp outside an episode on NOVA.
