Polaris: Year Four

Description

Already past her original three year mission, ladies and gentlemen. My little pride and joy has turned four today, so I made this variation of the classic original image, massively based upon the Trek 25th anniversary video game.

And yeah, a new enemy is ready to fly out and cross the path of the little light cruiser. Introducing the Wounded Pride, a Romulan Bird of Prey of my design. Boy, did it go to dozens of versions till I settled on this one. Designing completely new ships is hard, you know. Anyway, this bad bird is the flagship of Field Primus Tomed, an aging Romulan veteran, whose family was nearly destroyed during the Romulan War. His father has served in the War and told his son how the mere existence of Humankind has destroyed the supermacy of the Romulan people.
Tomed is not just a soldier. He's most importantly a bio-engineer, hoping to find the pure source of the Solanum virus (Google it if you don't know what that is), a disease that could wipe out civilization as we know it. The Polaris crew, already familiar with Solanum, goes after Tomed, with Metlesits having to break his oath of never doing a black-ops mission again (the last one ended with the final defeat of the Kzinti, as we all know it, yet, it wasn't an easy ride for the Polaris and her crew).
The Polaris and the Wounded Pride engage in a deadly hunt for the source of the Solanum virus inside the Neutral Zone, a largely uncharted strip of space, the home of smugglers, pirates, dissidents and things that are worse than the depths of the unknown. One wants to find it to destroy it, the other wants to find it to destroy others. Whatever the outcome, the world will not be the same again...

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Polaris. Her ongoing mission: to explore strange, new worlds. To seek out dangers and wonders. To boldly go and make a stand!

*raises hand timidly* Why do they have TWOK-to-TUC-era outfits but are sailing a five-year-mission-era-looking ship? Anyways, these are really nice portraits, and that sounds like an awesome story! Go kick Tomed's rear end, heroes! :D
