Don't ask me how the two ships met... I went artsy-fartsy with this one :D

I can easily imagine a scene based off of this render... An old space freighter is cruising along somewhere in the depths of space. Piloted by a scroungy-looking old black man and his son, they look out of the cockpit windows to see the nearby sun glowing in the distance. It was then that that out of the radiant glow of the sun, that these two ships... Seemingly decades apart... Yet sharing much in common, come flying by the aging freighter at full impulse. The son looks at his dad and says, "What in the hell do you suppose they're up to?" "No idea... But with ships like THAT...They look like they gonna whoop somebody's ass!" The dad replied.

When I look at this one, I look intently at the bridge modules on both star ships in order to understand the scale size between ships. The bridge on Kirk's ship looks to be larger than Picard's. This is fine, if Kirk is closer to us than Picard is.

However, I'm somehow getting the sense that Kirk is actually farther away that Picard is but then if that is so, there should be a shadow on Picard's ship, the shade that would be there from Kirk's ship...if this is the case.

One or the other, this is a technically smooth and realistic depiction of the ships themselves, as separate star ships. Together in a composition such as this, I can't quite place the scale of the ships in relation to each other.

I am aware also that I might be missing something, possibly obvious to others, that defines the scale...and I'm just not seeing it because of my own failing.

You are actually right, scaling is a major issue in Trek...

hey could you make an enterprise fleet battling all the most powerful enemies they faced?

and just for you or people i'll put down the entire Enterprise classes/universes :D

NX-Class, NX-Class-Mirror, The Unknown Enterprise, Constitution, Constitution-Refit, Excelsior, Ambassador, Galaxy, Sovereign and finaly the Odyssey.

if your not familiar with the Odyssey class you should check out Star Trek Online because it's continued on star trek and hasnt included the Abramsverse ship designs....yet

The Galaxy is almost as much bigger then the Constitution as the Constitution is bigger than the NX. They're complete beasts! You could almost fit the saucer off an NX class vessel into the Galaxy's main shuttle bay. It's absurdly enormous.

And the width of the E-D saucer is about the length of a Connie!

Some really sexy lighting going on here. Really puts a perspective on the size of the D. Also makes me annoyed that it lost to a ship as old and small as the Constitution-class.

Absolutely EPIC!!!

My best guess is that Q's responsible for this, but he's got his reasons. :XD: Likely he wants both captains to learn something from each other in taking care of something that otherwise, facing alone, would leave them both shaken down to their cores that would make them question their own character.

Kirk: So you've dealt with this menace before who likes to pull stunts like this?

Picard: *nods* I have, James. He's been a thorn in my side since my first mission as this Enterprise's commander, in 2364 at Farpoint Station. I'll admit several of the things he's put us through have left us the better for it, even if his methods are wholly unethical. He's subjecting us both to this ordeal to expose a possible flaw he wants us to see before this is over.

Kirk: A practical joker huh, that likes to use sick tricks to teach lessons? *nods* I've dealt with a few situations like this. I'll have you know Picard that contrary to what the history books suggest, I did manage to take care of quite a few crises without the use of violence and more often than not had to answer basic questions about humanity to help an alien understand why we act the way we do and why I and my crew were opposing them, leaving them soul searching much of the time afterwards.

Picard: *smiles a little* Hmm...maybe then you can say some things to Mr. Q here then over the course of this that will get him questioning why he has to toy on a whim in my matters and Starfleet matters in general. What year was it, James, in your home time when this started.

Kirk: 2290. Klingons have a price on my head still because they can't understand they, not me, fired the first shots on Kruge's ship and wanting to pin the idea of the Genesis Device on my shoulders as a rogue superweapon to use on them. *sighs* I've at times had to tell Spock to be ready to relieve me of command if my feelings for David overcome my restraint in dealing with them. I'm just completely shellshocked at seeing a Klingon on your bridge, IN a Starfleet uniform!

Picard: Hmm...well then, judging by what the history books say, I have a suspicion of what Q may just be wanting to teach you. I'm not going to divulge it, and Mr. Worf's presence as a Starfleet officer I'm not really at liberty to discuss the events leading up to it with you.

Kirk: *nods* I understand. He's been most courteous to me and my officers, so I won't press on it.

No idea how accurate that could be though. :XD:

This reminded me of a moment in one of the books where A and D are 'this close' in a rift- the can kinda pick each other out on the screens, but no comms. Just as the rift collapses (day saved by the Heroes again) Picard sends the ships hail at the other ship and Spock is able to decipher it came from an Enterprise.

Excellent, beautiful work as always.

I would imagine the Enterprise-D meets the older ship much the same she ran into the U.S.S. Bozeman and Enterprise-C..... thru some sort of space/time rift. ;) . Cool picture either way.
