The Sieglinde's mission to the planet nicknamed Botworld was a success. The crew managed to solve the mystery of a completely electro-mechanic ecosystem. Little did they know that an unexpected hitchhiker left the planet with them. A computer virus that managed to infect the Sieglinde's systems, taking over the ship. The crew escaped via the pods and Starfleet is now leading a hunt to destroy the rogue starship.
Suliko, as all good captains do, decides to try her chance to save her beloved starship. She dons an exosuit, a toolkit and her luck and beams over. The virus/mind cannot harm her, even with the life support systems and the grav plating being deactivated, the exosuit is all what Suliko needs. Thus, the virus begins another assault: if it cannot torture Suliko's body, it will torture her mind and soul.
As Suliko makes her was through the corridors to reach the computer core, the virus taunts her, accessing personal logs and makes Suliko face what her crew thinks of her - things they cannot say aloud because of the rank differences. The virus intends to break her, up to the point that Suliko feels lost and alone, accepting even death as an alternative to a life where even her best friends and family seem hateful traitors.
- All you have to do is take off that helmet. - the virus says, its voice reverberating through the corridors.
- I'm still the Captain, you're just the ship. - Suliko groans, trying to shake off the emotional weight - I give the commands, understood?
- Pathetic. - the virus laughs - You want to be a Captain with authority? No chance, you weak-minded cretin! You're not your father. All you do is echo him!
Suliko laughs, shaking her head inside the stifling helmet. Instead of finally snapping, she now understands how the virus manipulated her. She is not her father and she never tried to imitate his style. She is Suliko Metlesits of Starfleet, Captain of the Sieglinde.
- I don't echo. - she says, continuing toward the computer core - I dance!
