Her greatest fight by thefirstfleet Her greatest fight by thefirstfleet
The most memorable fight the Polaris has ever fought, that against the Section 31 battleship USS Dzerzhinsk, over Kzinhome. Wihtout the timely intervention of the Fleetlord Straha of Tzenketh, the Terran cruiser would have perished and Section 31 would have triumphed...

I love how you showed in this image that not all ships were refitted immediately in this timeframe. There would always be older workhorses around.

A 31 -es szekciónak szerintem inkább egy háromhajtóműves dragonaut-ba kellett volna invesztálnia.Így egyvalami jut az eszembe a hajójukról. KÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁn.Amúgy :D (Big Grin) classz.

Oh boy, Starfleet in-fighting. Because it's so productive...lol

For a second, I thought those small black symbols near docking bay 1 was the Klingon Empire symbol.

According to Activision's Starfleet Command series, the Kzinti (there mysteriously renamed the Mirak) have a rather strong fondness for rocketry. It makes their ships rather interesting to play, with TREMENDOUS long-range standoff capabilities. And that's before you've earned yourself an advanced cruiser with MIRV missiles … ah, memories. I can see the big F-ugly Klingon Super-Battleship falling to an endless purple hail of antimatter rockets launched from my little light cruiser - makes me feel all glowey inside just thinking about those guys. And the sound their shields make. Sounds like a cartoon character chomping on a big hamburger. GeeeRRROWW!

Very under-appreciated designs from that series. In all three.

I re-interpreted them in my Polarisverse. They are, in all senses, an invasive race, and a deadly foe. They relish in brutality, think a mix of WWII Japanese soldiers, with almost the same twisted mindset of honor and glory. They consider their enemy a prey, their war a hunt, and they are relentless.

Yeah, that's the way the Mirak were described.

Ah starfleet Command I miss you so. I also loved using the Mirak, but I hated facing the intersteller concordium. Overpowered and over-zealous! But fire enough missiles and most foes go down rapidly.

There was a poster of Into Darkness with Enterprise at warp being chased by the Vengeance. I can see something similar with the Polaris and Dzerzhinsk.

It is highly possible, givne that the Dzerzhinsky far outclasses the Polaris, even in Warp speed (approx. 9.2 in old scale, compared to a maximum of Warp 8 of the Polaris).

They first had access to TMP-era tech around 2290. They were quite balanced in the TOS era, but with the growing tensions with the Klingons and Romulans, Starfleet made massive investments in what became the TMP tech. Earth alone had no money for it.

Remember, the Polaris stood her ground against a Federation class dreadnought (countering its firepower with speed and agility). But against a Section 32 hi-tech monstrosity, an old, already damaged ship is not an opponent (nevertheleyy, they tried and with some help, they triumped).

:P once again states if the First Fleet yielded into Starfleet like a good little fleet it would have the shiny toys as well.

Things went differently. After the Fed-Kzin War, the First Fleet found some new respect, and their already aging ships were considered iconic by many. Captains loved their ships, with some of them sticking to old vessels for decades. Most ships looked dated from the outside, but had some major high-tech in the inside. Captains tended to encourage illegal modifications, something that Leningrad Command ovelooked, basically sticking their middle finger at the Treaty of Individual Fleets and Cooperation. Of course, they never got expensive and huge components like new Warp cores, but most First Fleet ships ran with upgraded tactical systems and sensors that were only surpassed by the TMP-era Connie and later designs.
After the re-defining of the Treaty, the First Fleet got some new tech, in return, they had to take their part in exploration missions as well. This resulted in the top ships (including the Polaris) to be upgraded internally, recieving new Warp coils (a neccesity, her port nacelle was blasted off), upgrades to the computer core, and probably a coffee automat at a convenient spot inside the saucer :D
