Dreadnought by thefirstfleet Dreadnought by thefirstfleet
The introduction of the Galaxy-X class dreadnought was seen traditionally as a response to the emerging new technologies of the Typhon Pact powers. Covertly, the class was built to fight the Borg Remnant and "terminate it with extreme prejudice".
The class features many upgrades to the classic Galaxy design: a quantum slipstream drive capable of reaching, in terms of traditional Warp scale, up to Warp 14, as well as iron-6 core transphasic phaser turrets mounted on small pylons. The additional "conning tower" houses many scientific and engineering facilities, as well as two work bee hangars and one large fightercraft hangar, making the Galaxy-X essentially a fighter carrier. The biggest imrovement was, of course, the Type XX Fixed-Arc Phaser Spinal Lance. Given that engineers like to live long descriptive names, whilst captains like to keep things siple, most captains gave alternate names to their own ship-mounted supergun. On the Resolute, it was called Light of Judgement, on the Saigon, it was called the Zeus Cannon, and on the Yamato, it was called the Wave-Motion Gun (what else?).

Probably Transwarp Factor 3, called Warp 13 to make it easier for the ears.

There are many things in Voyager that makes us feel that way...

Then again, Star Trek is like sex: even if it's bad, it's good :D

I would call mine the "*Schwanzus Longus*" as both an official name and joke commonly used among men who keep guns to compensate for their "Manhood" if you get what I'm Talking about.

I just thought of something interesting, what if it were possible for a Galaxy X Starship to separate it's saucer? I know it's practically impossible due to the fact that the Phaser Lance is a fully integrated unit into both sections. But like I said, What if it were possible?

I think it is possible. I don't know if it was a deliberate design feature or mere coincidence, but there is something that looks like a separation line on the big gun, just where the saucer separates. How the gun is being able to fire without the Warp reactor... that's another question...

Perhaps there's a secondary reactor in the Saucer similar to how the Prometheus class has separate reactors for each section.

WHat I have in mind is a fusion furnace that powers the gun. And only the gun. It's part of the kit, not originating in the Galaxy's original configuration.

Typhon Pact, eh?

I just looked it up. Wonderful analog to the old Warsaw Pact.

"Wave Motion Gun"? I love it!

BTW, have you seen the new animated remake of SB Yamato? [link]

Typhon is an analogue to Warshaw? OMG, that means the Typhon Pact will win the shoot-out!

How do you come to that conclusion?

The real historical analogy would be if the Typhon Pact collapsed under the weight of the poorly maintained economy. Remember, the Warsaw Pact didn't last past 1991, without NATO having to fire a shot.

But in a pontential WWIII... man, we'd have smacked the imperialist pigs :D

(Don't forget, I'm an Eastern man, kinda biased for the Soviet Union and her stuff :D )

You'd smack our bombs, bullets, rockets, and missiles right in the nose with your tanks, helicopters, and planes.

(Don't forget, I'm an American :salute::flagus::salute:, and biased for our awesome gear.)

That, I always had to acknowledge. American weapons were superior to Soviet gear, except for tanks (nothing can beat the T-series). But the numbers... that's friggin Mother Russia plus the other Soviet Republics plus the satellite states...

Fun fact: my native Hungary's role would have been, in case of WWIII, the occupation of either Austria or Italy. I honestly say, I do not know if we could have done that alone...

Nothing can beat the T-series? Those things whose turrets popped off like champagne corks whenever confronted by an Abrams in both Gulf wars?

I can't debate the weight of numbers, it served us well in WWII when fighting the better engineered German tanks, but the T-series performance in combat hasn't exactly impressed me.
