"Captain's log, Jean-Luc Picard reporting. To be honest, I do not know whether to congratulate Number One for his unorthodix method or not. Following the catastrophic failure of the Enterprise's weapon szstems, he ordered the Duras Sisters' ship to be rammed. He saved the ship and the crew... he saved me. But somehow, I feel that I have left something on Veridian, or maybe beyond it... in the depths of the Nexus..."
"Captain's log, Suliko Metlesits reporting. Dad would laugh his uniform off. We're being pulled off the Cardassian border just to escort the Enterprise back home. Some flagship, getting beaten up by a D-12. I remember dealing with those on my old Sieglinde... the glory days... Personal addendum: must get some time to visit Jolia."
Okay, here's the deal: In the Polarisverse, Riker had his balls in place and they rammed the frag out of that BoP. The Enterprise-D survived and was repaired later on. Picard never went to the Nexus, Kirk is still there. Why? Because he will be needed one day, when Mankind's Bane returns. And yeah, in the 24th century, Suliko got a bigger ship than the trusty old Centaur class.
Hehe, I like this version MUCH better. D's got the absolute crap knocked out of her but she's intact and kicking, just not warp capable. Surely the Trafalgar's engines have got enough arse (read: a$$) to lug the Enterprise along at a nice warp speed using the tractor beam as well right, that's why she's there?
Side by side, you can see the difference. The Galaxy-Class is disproportionate, but you reconfigure the same saucer, engineering hull and nacelles and boom, a much better looking ship---Nebula-Class.
From that Log entry it would seem Picard did go into the Nexus, however instead of seeing his ship exploding in the Xmas decoration he saw the D ramming the BoP? Perhaps then it was Riker that Guinan guided him too to help him emerge rather than Kirk? Not only that but when he emerged ("at the place you came in" instead of 'any time, any where') he found Riker and co waiting with Doc Loony in custody?
Thing is in the Polarisverse I can imagine them having rotating shield frequencies all the time post Borg so the Duras sisters plan would not have worked? Perhaps they had La Forge bring a bomb on board? Or a hypnotic suggestion that made him blow the core? Or simply had lots of fire-power and jumped the Enterprise as she warped in for a more Epic battle??
Picard was in the Nexus, but never met Kirk (the old badass is still in the ribbon, awaiting the Polarisverse version of Ragnarok). Riker had his balls on maximum and when the Enterprise's main systems failed because of the Warp core damage, he ordered the Helmsman to ram the frag out of that BoP. Geordi managed to eject the Core, which detonated, but doing slight damage to the Enterprise. The Duras Sisters were mashed in their BoP, the Enterprise was trashed, but survived. Picard had enough sense of strategy to know he could simply ambush Dr. Loony. and instead of coming back to the wrong moment, he chose a better point of time, and ended Loony's plans with a fractured jaw. The damaged Enterprise limped back to the nearest Starbase, under protection of the Trafalgar, with Suliko secretly laughing her ass off about the Flagship being so trashed by an obsolete Bird of Prey.
