I thank :iconpuffinstudios: for this: Refit Dreadnaught Invincible Class by PUFFINSTUDIOS   I've now found the field-command ship that Rear Admiral Tougatsu Touken, father of Captain Sesshomaru Touken, likely field-commanded a few exploration expeditions from after he was promoted to Rear Admiral in late 2293.  :D

And probably an absolute BRUISER of a ship too!  Some may have questioned if such a heavily armed capital ship was needed as an expeditionary field command vessel, but Touken likely stopped their questions by reminding them that the expeditionary group was going deep into unexplored regions where there is literally ZERO civilized presence, much less Federation presence for that matter.

They would literally be 'out in the middle of nowhere on their own' and so the force has to be fully self-sufficient, capable of producing on its own most any consumable item or piece of kit from discovered raw materials, and even though he would not imagine the field-command ship's extensive weaponry would be needed all that much, its twin matter-antimatter reactors WOULD be darn helpful for powering mini-manufactoria he'd have placed in the massive secondary hull-space allotted for five-year mission supplies in the refit secondary hull design.  Also, such a large ship would be needed to house his staff and to also permit space for cataloging important findings by various expedition ships, and also, should any civilized life forms be found, he'd need the staff at hand to help advise on possibly difficult decisions that would fall into his lap on Prime Directive and First Contact matters.

Why field-command an exploration expedition or two?  One thing that Tougatsu Touken lamented in his past as a feudal-era military general in Japan's ancient past was the fact he never much got the chance to go exploring truly unexplored and completely untouched regions of land during those times, where HE and those under his command were the first sentient beings to set foot somewhere.  Now he finally gets a chance to do that and, following the Khitomer Accords, is the best thing for him to be doing with there now being a good long-term prospect of peace with the Klingons.
